You will absolutely fall in love with this neighborhood once you start spending more time in it. It’s always a good idea to explore different neighborhoods as well, but you might want to think about Lakeview in particular if you are worried about finding a place in a safe and attractive location. Lakeview is also a hot spot among the young crowd, so if you are someone who is a young adult, then you’ll feel right at home.
Make sure to talk to a real estate agent about the potential of living in Lakeview. They might be able to direct you to some sections of the neighborhood that are cheaper than others. For instance, if you opt to live in West Lakeview, you will have an easier time finding an affordable apartment than you would if you were to live somewhere that’s closer to Lake Shore Drive. Plus, DePaul University, which is located in Lincoln Park, is within a close proximity as well. You also will never run out of great places to eat, especially if you like Thai food or sushi. You can find tons of diners that are open 24 hours as well, which is ideal if you would like to go out for some food or a cup of coffee if you know you’re going to be up late studying.
Try to take advantage of the fact that Lakeview has some excellent shopping in it as well. If you love going to antique shops or thrift stores, then you’re certainly in luck. Both of these line the street of Lincoln Avenue. If you prefer to buy most of your clothes in boutique shops, then you could think about doing your shopping on Belmont. Tons of eclectic stores line this street, and you can easily check out some of the shops on Halsted from this location as well.
